Glendale Repertory Dance Theater

The Glendale Repertory Dance Theater is a performance ensemble of young dancers with varied dance backgrounds and techniques. The repertoire of the company is composed of original works, choreographed by the company members and guest choreographers. These works represent a wide variety of techniques and styles of dance available only in a large cosmopolitan city such as Los Angeles. These dances use the vocabularies of jazz, modern, and ballet to invoke themes motivated by the interests and concerns of today, or, simply for entertainment through the art of dance.

One becomes a member of the company by completing the requirements for the certificate in choreographic studies and by an audition, or by participating in the spring and fall production classes as a performer.

Glendale Repertory Dance Theater aims to give dancers an opportunity to participate in as many aspects of the craft as possible. It hopes to provide the chance for young choreographers to see their works performed and perfected before different audiences. It proposes to introduce a variety of dance styles to audiences who might not otherwise be exposed to the richness of the art. The company also gives California choreographers a forum for the development of new works that might not otherwise be seen in a highly competitive and commercial market place. The Glendale Repertory Dance Theater is a subsidiary of The Glendale College Foundation, a non-profit organization.
