Thank you for taking the time to visit the Verdugo
Fire Academy at Glendale Community College. The connection to the
firefighters of tomorrow. Verdugo Fire Academy is a California State
Board of Fire Services and California State Fire Marshal's regional
certified academy.
The Basic Fire Academy is currently offered as an extended program on
Thursday nights and weekends to allow working students to attend. Class
XIV graduated on January 7, 2012 with 45 cadets, the largest class ever.
Class XV started on the 5th of January 2012.
We will begin taking
applications for Class XVI in the near future. Applications
will be accepted for an extended period of time after the college starts
accepting them.
Graduates of the program will receive the California State Fire Marshal's approved firefighter 1 curriculum, which includes 900 hours of both academic and hands-on training. The successful graduate will earn their basic firefighter 1 training record and several certifications approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Monthly information meetings for our program are held on the first Thursday
of every month at 7 p.m. at Glendale Community College at 1500 Verdugo Road
in Glendale, in the Aviation and Art Building, Room AA 108.
