Anita Bloom graduated from the American Film Institute’s directing program. Her thesis film, in the space of god received the Colin Higgins Production Award and a Kellogg Foundation Grant. Prior to attending AFI, Anita graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in Film/Television Production. Her first Chapman project, Pandora’s Box, received their Intro to Visual Storytelling Award. Softly As I Leave You, her final project produced at Chapman, screened at film festivals and received several awards, including the Audience Choice Award for Best Dramatic Short (Film Fest New Haven), and the Mole-Richardson Award for Production/Innovation (Angelus Awards). Softly As I Leave You was also included in a Women’s Short Fest sponsored by American Cinematheque.

Prior to filmmaking, Anita began her career as a dancer, making her professional debut at fourteen as Clara in Pacific Ballet Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker. She attended The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and graduated from The Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC, where she studied acting with Sanford Meisner. She’s performed in NYC, Los Angeles, Shakespeare Orange County and at the Milwaukee Repertory where she understudied Ping Chong’s 4am in America, Rita in Educating Rita, Daisy in Driving Miss Daisy, Julia in The Rivals, among other roles.
