The 2009-10 athletic season concluded with an outstanding performance by the m/w track team at the state meet championships at Antelope Valley College.
The women's team finished in fifth place with 58 points, the highest finish in school history for the Lady Vaqs as nine athletes earned All-American honors, highlighted by sophomore Rosa Del Toro earning a state championship by winning the 1500 meters. Three athletes, Samanta Bogatz, Del Toro and Karen Rosa earned a pair of All-American honors by placing in the top six in their events. Bogatz was fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200 and anchored the fifth place 4 x 100 relay team, Del Toro also took third in the 5000 meters and Rosas was second in the 5000 and 10,000 meters. Others earning All-Amrican honors were Vivian Ochoa by finishing fourth in the 10,000, Nina Moore was fifth in the 5000 and Angie Gonzalez was sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Joining Bogatz on the 4 x 100 relay team were Shannon Azizi, Carissa Porter and Daniella Pollard.
