The Men’s Tennis Vaqueros are excited about their upcoming 2013 season. This coming season is the first time that Bob Mackay will not have any players back from the pervious year, but with new recruits Bob is excited that this could be another strong year.
The team will be lead by freshman Gaspar Malalutas from Valencia High School, Andrew You, Acardia HS and International students Dat Le, Vietnam and Santiago Segovia, Argentia. According to Coach MacKay, “this team has the strength and depth to be a strong contender for the Western State Conference title. Both Gaspar, Andy, Dat and Santiago give us strong depth for our team this year. "
The season opener for the Vaqueros will be on Friday, Janurary 25nd, against Mt. Sac (2PM) at Glendale College.
Some other season highlights will include non conference matches against Saddleback, Grossmont, Pima and Amherst all taking place at Glendale College.
Coach MacKay believes that this challenging non conference schedule will prepare the Vaqueros for the rigors of the Western State Conference and for potential postseason play. The men’s tennis team would like to thank in advance all individuals who come out and support the team.
Those who can not make it to the matches this year can follow the team on the website, where Twitter feeds will give updates on matches. Additionally, a direct link will soon be put on the webpage that will allow users to access the California Community College Tennis Association’s and Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s team and player rankings directly from the men’s tennis website.
