The Lady Vaqs lost three of four games last week and are now 21-11 overall and 6-4 in Western State Conference Blue Division play. The dropped a doubleheader to College of the Canyons 6-2 and 8-7 last Tuesday and split with L.A. Valley College winning the first game 6-5 in eight innings last Friday and droping the second game 6-4. In the win over Valle, Brandy Morin got the pitching victory to improve to 15-9 and also had three hits indluding a double and drove in three runs. Carly Zabka had two hits and Jena Kaser drove in two runs with a single.
Glendale play a doubleheader at Bakersfield College Tuesday at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. and hosts Santa Monica City College Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Glendale Sports Complex.
Glendale fell to Santa Barbara City College 3-1 last Tuesday and fell to 18-9 overall and remain 9-4 in Western State Conference Southern Division play.
The Vaqs play at West Los Angeles College Tuesday and then host the Wildcats Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Stengel Field. They also host L.A. Pierce College at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stengel Field.
The GCC men's golf team finished in second place finish at the Western State Conference match last Monday hosted by Ventura College. GCC was narrowly beaten by three strokes, 379 to 382, by College of the Canyons, and now stands second in conference behind COC.
Mathias Dahl and Clayton Ojeda each shot 75 to pace the Vaqueros. Michael Timpson and Richie Maloof each shot 77 and Nick Quintanilla shot 78 for Glendale.
Glendale competes in a WSC match Wednesday April 11 at the San Dimas Golf Course hosted by Citrus College.
TRACK & FIELD
The men and women;s track team turned in solid resuts last Friday at the Orange Coast Invitational. The women's team got victories from Melissa Cruz in the pole vault at 2.76 meters and Lilia Asserian in the 800 meters in 2:17.64.
Other top finishes include Justice Shank finishing second in the high jump at 1.57 meters, Darcy Coto finishing second in the polke vault with a vault of 2.61 meters, Grace Zamudio was third in the 3000 meters in 10:34.14 and Cecilia Nicolas finished fourth in the 1500 meters in 4:45. and Alyssa Selve was fifth in the same race in 4:52.17.For the men, top finishes included Vladimir Diaz finishing third inthe 3000 meters in 8:48.27 and Issac Diosdado finishing fifth in the same race in 8:51.63.
Glendale competes in the Mt. SAC Invitational Saturday.
Glendale split apair of matches last week and is now 6-11 overall and 2-7 in WSC play. They fell to Santa Barbara City College 7-2 last Thursday and beat Victor Valley College 8-1 Friday. The Vaqs swept all six matches in singles with Trevor Campbell, Andre Ratavousian, Francisco Ochoa, Chaz Hall, Eric Khanlarian and Mario Ruiz getting wins as well as the doubles teams of Ruiz and Ochoa and the team of Khanlarian and Chris Simpson.

The Lady Vaqs fell to Santa Barbara City College in their WSC regular season finale last Thursday to finish WSC team play at 4-4 and are 5-7 overall. Sofia Tavitian had a victory at No. 2 singles at 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 and Samantha Sismundo won at No. 3 singles at 6-0, 6-0.
