BASEBALL

    GCC baseball is 21-9 and is in first place in the WSC with a two-game lead with five to play at 12-4 after beating West Los Angeles College 14-0 and 11-3 last Tuesday and Thursday and beat L.A. Pierce 10-4 Saturday.

    The Vaqueros play at Pierce Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., at Bakersfield Thursday at 6 p.m. and host Bakersfield Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stengel Field.

SOFTBALL

    The Lady Vaqs softball team is 23-11 overall and is battling for a playoff spot at 8-4 in the WSC Blue Division after sweeping a doubleheader from Bakersfield College 9-0 and 3-2 last Tuesday. Thursday's game against Santa Monica was rained out an will be replayed April 20. in the 9-0 win over Bakersfield last Tuesday, Jena Kaser had four hits including a home run and drove in three runs. Kitty Nguyen his a grand slam and had two hits as did pitcher Brandy Morin. Morin pitched a one-hitter and struck out six to improve to 17-9 this season. 

    Glendale hosts Citrus in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, plays at Valley College Thursday at 2:30 pm. and hosts Santa Monica City College Friday at noon. All home games are played at the Glendale Sports Complex.

MEN'S GOLF

    Glendale took second in a WSC match hosted by Citrus College last Wednesday, 364-345, to College of the Canyons. Mathias Dahl shot a four-under-par 68 to pace thew Vaqueros. Richie Maloof shot 71, Michael Timpson shot 73, Clayton Ojeda shot 74 and Nick Quintanilla shot 78.

    The Vaqueros host a WSC match Monday April 16 at the Oakmont Country Club at 11:00 a.m. 

TRACK & FIELD

    Lady Vaqs runners Cecilia Nichols and Alyssa Selve ran to victories last Saturday at the prestigious Mt. SAC Invitational. Nicolas won the 3000 meters steeplechase in 11:11.33 and Selve took the 1500 meters in 4:51.12. Lilia Asserian took second in the 800 meters in 4:16.03, Justice Shank was third in the high jump at 1.58 meters, Grace Zamudio was third in the 1500 in 4:53.04 and Angela MArtinez was fourth in the same race in 4:53.26 and Nohemi Martinez was third in the 5000 meters in 18:23.43.

    For the men, Mario Castillo was third in the 800 meters in 1:56.53 and Mizrael Mendez was third in the 5000 meters in 15:41.71.

    Glendale competes in the WSC Prelims Friday at 10:00 a.m.

MEN'S TENNIS

    At the WSC Tournament at Ventura College last Saturday, the doubles team of Trevor Campbell and Grayson Frazier qualified for the Southern California Regionals May 3-5 at Irvine Valley College. Campbell and Frazier need one victory in singles Friday at Ventura to qualify for regionals in that event as well.

    Glendale competes next in the Ojai Invitational April 26-29 in Ojai. 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

    At the WSC Tournament at Ventura college last Saturday, the doubles team of Sevana Zargarian and Samantha Sismundo qualified for the Southern California Regionals May 3-5 at Irvine Valley College. In singles Sofia Tavitian, Sismundo and Zargarian need one victory Friday at Ventura College to qualify for the regionals in that event as well.

    The Lady Vaqs compete in the Ojai Invitational April 26-29 in Ojai.
