The architecture major is unique from other majors in that most schools ask for a portfolio of the student's work to determine the level of the student's placement. Please note that Woodbury University also offers an Architecture major that is articulated. Please consult the Transfer Center.

ARCHITECTURE PROGRAMS
General Info:
To be an architect in the U.S. you must be
Complete a professional degree program in architecture
Complete a three-year internship
Pass the Architect Registration Exam

The two accredited program types are Bachelor of Architectrue (B.ARCH) and Master of Architecture (M.ARCH).
The education componet can be fulfilled in on of three ways, but should be completed in an accredited professional degree program. These avenues to licensure are:
1. 5 year Bachelor of Architecture (a professional degree) +3 year internship or
2. 4 year "pre-professional" Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in a related field like architecture or environmental design + 2 year Masters of Architecture (professional degree) +3 year internship or
3. 4 year undergraduate degree in any major + 3 year (or 3.5) Masters of Architecture (professional degree) + 3 year internship.

2. An online portfolio submission is required of ALL transfer applicants. Portfolio Requirements

Transfer applicants must submit at least one (1) and no more than three (3) letters of recommendation directly to the School of Architecture.

Although we do review all transcripts to determine placement, most architecture courses are not transferable for credit. In conjunction to the transcript, the portfolio will be evaluated to determine if advanced placement is possible. It is advised not to follow another university's articulation agreement or list of suggested courses.

Note that CED's General Education/Breadth Requirements can be covered by IGETC certification beginning with students applying in November 2011 and beyond.

If you are using IGETC to fulfill CED's College Requirements, you must have full certification. Partial certification will not complete the requirements. Be sure to check with your community college about the procedures involved in
certification of IGETC. The University will require the official certification by the July 15th deadline.

If you will not complete IGETC certification, you must follow exactly the articulation agreements between your school and the CED architecture major as described on this ASSIST.org website.

Recommended minimum transferable GPA 3.5
As a result of state impaction requirements, non-resident and foreign students are not eligible to apply to the ndergraduate program. A supplementary admissions process is required by the University and the
Department.

The "Golden Four" (Oral Communication, English Composition, Critical Thinking and Quantitative Reasoning) must be completed by the end of the fall quarter in which the student applies to the program (e.g., by the end of Fall 2011 for entrance in Fall 2012).
