The Psychology major focuses on the scientific study of human and animal behavior, normal and abnormal in terms of: neural, physiological and cognitive processes; developmental factors and individual differences; and social and interpersonal influences and contexts. Students choose courses from a variety of areas including behavioral, neuroscience, learning, measurement, clinical, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology. The undergraduate Psychology curriculum provides a strong liberal arts foundation appropriate for immediate post-baccalaureate careers in a variety of areas, particularly ones in which an understanding of human behavior would be an asset. The psychology major can also serve as an excellent background for further training in psychology, law, education, government, public policy, business, and many health-related professions.
